Hugh Smith

Director

Hugh first started as a brickpaver/labourer in 1984 at the age of 19, working for a local landscaper, followed by a civil paving contractor.

In 1988 he commenced working for himself initially in partnerships with mates, then on his own in 1990. By this time he was already the preferred brick paving contractor in Perth for major builders such as John Hollands, Thiess, Transfield and others.

It’s his ability to work in well with all other trades,supervisors and project managers while providing a high standard of service to his clients, that has enabled him to build his company, Hugh & Co Contracting Pty Ltd, into one of Australia’s finest.

Ronnie Van Wanrooij

Senior Works Supervisor

Ronnie has over sixteen years paving and hard landscape experience, Five years of which was running his own paving business. He also has several years experience installing playgrounds, soft fall surfaces and sporting arena surfaces.

He is a trade qualified mechanic and has worked as a mechanic in private enterprise and the Dutch Army.

In his role of Senior Works Supervisor with HCC Ronnie has proven himself to be a very organised man of great integrity, with an eye for quality. These attributes are a great asset to HCC and have not gone unnoticed by our clients.

Dalibor Hansel (Dale)

Contracts Admin & Tendering

Dale has a Master’s Degree – Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Subclass Concrete Constructions and a Certificate CIMA (Czech Institute for Marketing) Prague.

Dale brought to HCC not only his academic credentials but also a wealth of experience from his professional career in concrete construction and his family’s tilling/paving company.

Dale also has an Advanced Diploma in Management and a Diploma in Business and as a result brings a lot of smarts with him. He has proven himself to be a valuable member of the HCC team whose value to the company grows by the day.

Ross Forster

Paving Supervisor

Ross joined HCC in July 2012 from the UK, bringing with him extensive experience as a ground worker/bloke paver. He has a proven ability to supervise a crew of ground workers and pavers over a wide variety of projects. Since joining HCC he has also proven his ability to liaise with all project stake holder in a proficient and professional manner enabling his projects to run smoothly and to everyone involved satisfaction. Ross is an asset to HCC in our never ending efforts to offer our client’s the highest standard of service.

Terry Pinfold

Senior Supervisor

A British City & Guilds streetmason / pavior of over 40 years, Terry has been with our company for the past 20 years. He has substantial experience in all aspects of brick paving as well as the ability to manage staff and organise a diverse variety of large paving projects in a very professional manner, such as Leighton Beach (granite cobble stone 6400m²). He has supervised many hardstand projects including Fremantle Wharf for Patrick’s (64,000m²), Woolworth’s Distribution Centre for Multiplex (36,000m²) Kalgoorlie Railway Container Park (13,000m²), SCT Rail Container Park for Mills & Hassell (19,000m²) and TEREX – Perth Airport for McLeish & Matthews (18,000m²) and many others.

Warren Atkinson

Paving Supervisor

Warren completed an apprenticeship in automotive spray painting in 1999 and then left the auto industry in 2000 to try his hand at brick paving with Hugh & Co. Warren left Hugh & Co in 2002 to work at Midland Brick, returning to Hugh & Co in 2007. In his time with us warren has proven to be a reliable consciences paver with a real desire to get the job done. Now as a paving supervisor he has proven that he has the ability to get projects done in a prompt professional manner, to the standard that our clients have come to expect and rellie on from Hugh & Co. Warren is an asset to Hugh & Co and the industry as a hole.
